RAE  Course – January to May 2026

THE RADIO AMATEUR EXAM (RAE) WILL TAKE PLACE ON 16 MAY 2026

The next West Rand Amateur Radio Club course commences on 13 January 2026 with an introduction to the hobby and registration process for those who decide to participate.

Classes will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings. Practical sessions take place on Saturday mornings at our clubhouse situated in Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort.

On confirmation of passing the ICASA exam, candidates will receive their very own Call Sign, used for worldwide communication, opening a new, stimulating and rewarding chapter in their lives.

COST

Club Membership and Tuition Fee  (Payable to the WRARC)

Membership is valid until the club’s Annual General Meeting in the year following the year in which you take the course.

Scholars and unemployed students    R120.00
Adult RAE Candidate                          R180.00
Tuition fees                                          R200.00

 

SARL and ICASA Fees (Payable to the SARL)

The SARL co-ordinates the RAE. This fee includes registration with ICASA and the license fee payable to ICASA 

Class A License                                R700.00
Class A License  (Under 25’s)           R600.00
Class B License                                R500.00
